Bad Moms is a comedy movie about being a mom, but not like your typical mom movie. This movie has a special edge. The movie begins with the story of Amy Mitchell (Mila Kunis) who is a married woman with two children, Jane (Oona Laurence) and Dylan (Emjay Anthony). She feels stressed out and commits way too much to not only her family but also her work. She tries to work out while also being the best employee for her boss who is much younger then her. She does her housework and helps them with their homework and makes her kids’ hand packed lunch. She is in the PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) which is run by Gwendolyn James (Christina Applegate) and her friends, Stacy (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Vicky (Annie Mumolo).
One day, she catches her husband Mike (David Walton) cheating on her with a dairy farmer via the internet and Amy throws him out of the house. She tries to keep her life together, only it is not that easy.
After a long and stressful day, Amy attends a PTA meeting. During the meeting, she publicly quits the PTA because she does not agree with Gwendolyn’s point of view about a bake sale. Instead, she goes to a bar near the school. There, Amy meets Carla (Kathryn Hahn), a mom that is a little out there. She has no fear to talk about some sensitive things like sex. You could say she’s a bit more modern compared to Amy. She also happens to be a single mom. They also meet Kiki (Kristen Bell), who is married has four kids. She is also a stay at home mom who is devoted to her husband. She appears to be kind of a loner and doesn’t have any friends.
That is, until she meets Amy and Carla. All three of them are tired of how things are going in their lives. From that point on they go on lots of adventures. You will see also a change in Amy’s attitude as she stands up to her boss and teaches her kids to be independent.
The movie is literally about moms and what they do for their children. It also gives an idea about what they would want to do for themselves. The stress that they sometimes go through as mothers is also showcased. What they sacrifice for their children’s well being is also shown. Even Carla, who seems a bit more out there has her own mom moments.
Like I mentioned before, this is so not your typical mom movie. It has so many comedic scenes and their auw moments. It has their sad moments and also has a modern point of view of a mother.
This movie is funny, sad, and yet so funny. You can probably relate to this movie. I am not a mother, but being an aunt is almost similar to being a mother, and I also get to see what’s it’s like to be a mom. I have to admit that I loved watching this movie. I was not disappointed one bit. I would definitely recommend watching this movie whether you are a mother, have a mother, or know a mother. This movie made me see my mother’s point of view on many things and it made me appreciate her more. This is also a beautiful family movie. Have you watched this movie before? What did you think about it?
