Key West is an island city in Florida and the county seat of Monroe County. Key West is also the southern most location in the continental United States, offering exotic foliage, tropical lend of azure waters, four star restaurants, and a history of some notorious and notable figures.
Since its founding in 1822, Key West became adopted homes to many from pirates to poets, and political pundits. The city carries the creative torch of such former residents such as Ernest Hemingway, Tennessee Williams and past presidents.
A must stop for tourists include viewing the treasures from shipwrecks, discovering the haunts of their literary heroes, and marveling at the Victorian architecture and lush, colorful gardens.

Some things to do are snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, scuba diving, parasailing, and fishing. There are many beaches to enjoy like Dry Tortugas Beach, Smathers Beach and Bahai Honda State Park They also have great restaurants, hotels, night life, boat cruises, and shopping.
The size of the island is 2×4 miles, with a population of 24,909. The average temperature in the summer is 89/80 degrees and in the winter 76/66 degrees. Sunny to partly sunny days per year is 259, so it is a perfect place to come year round. Key West is 160 miles from Miami and 90 miles from Cuba.
Key West is a beautiful place to visit and it appears that you really need to book your hotel at least 6 to 8 months before you go as everything gets booked really fast. If you love the weather and the water this is the place for you. I would love to visit and see if I could find any treasure. LOL
