6.2 M Earthquake in Central Italy

Central Italy was hit by an earthquake of A 6.2 magnitude on August 24, leaving the affected towns in rubble.

Most buildings are destroyed and the death toll keeps rising.

The search for survivors started right after the earthquake and so far, 388 people are in the hospital being treated for their injuries. The death toll as of this Friday, August 26th was around 278. Among the deaths are also foreigners which includes three British, a Spanish, an Albanian, six Romanians and a Canadian individual.

At least a few people are said to still be accounted for. The earch for them is still ongoing.

The number of homeless people due to this catastrophe will be added to the 8,300 from the earthquake in 2009, who are still to this day living in temporary accommodations.
