The legendary former world champion of boxing in the heavyweight category, Muhammad Ali, passed away on Friday, June 3rd at 74 years old of age in a hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.

“After a struggle of 32 years against Parkinson’s disease, Muhammad Ali died at the age of 74”, announced Bob Gunnel, the spokesman of the family.

The former boxer had been admitted to the hospital due to respiratory problems, according to the information given by the family spokesman .

Muhammad Ali, who was the world heavyweight champion in 1964, 1974 and 1978 had been hospitalized at the beginning of last year with a urinary tract infection.

Remembered as the greatest boxer in the history of the sport, Ali made his last public appearance in April, in an event to raise funds for charity organizations in Arizona.
