Central Intelligence

Central Intelligence is an action movie filled with comedy and adventure. The movie starts in the year 1996 where Calvin Joyner, (Kevin Hart) the star athlete is being honored at his high school’s senior pep rally. On the other hand, his classmate Robbie Wheirdicht (Dwayne Johnson) is being bullied by another student named Trevor (Jason Bateman) and his friends.

Trevor and his friends throw Robbie into the gym just as Calvin is receiving his award. Everyone started laughing except for Calvin and his girlfriend Maggie Johnson (Danielle Nicolet). Calvin took his varsity jacket off to give it to Robbie so he could cover himself up. Robbie thanks Calvin and walks out covered, but feeling embarrassed.

Twenty years later, Calvin is married to Maggie and works as an accountant. He is dissatisfied with his career, while Maggie is thriving as a partner at her law firm. She suggests they see a therapist to salvage their deteriorating marriage. At work, Calvin receives a friend request on Facebook from a man named Bob Stone, who reveals that he is Robbie and requests that they meet at a bar. Calvin is shocked to see that Robbie has transformed into a tall, muscular, confident man.

From that point on, both Calvin and Robbie go on lots of adventures with plenty of action. In addition, there is also some comedic scenes.

The movie brings back memories to us about our high school years and how things may have changed over the past. Fortunately, it is usually for the better! It also shows us that sometimes the bad or the worst things that happens to us is a lesson in someway to make us stronger. In that sense, this movie is definitely relatable.

Final Thoughts

This movie is original, funny, sad, and also happy. You can relate to this movie and learn something, but I have to admit that I was expecting more comedic scenes. I also have to admit that I loved watching this movie and I would definitely recommend watching it. Whether you want to watch the comedic side, the action side, or if you are there just for the aww moments, this film is for you!
