Legendary Boxer Muhammad Ali’s Son Detained

The executive order that bans the entrance on the USA soil of any travelers from a Muslim County can even affect its own citizens. Just ask Muhammad Ali Jr., the son of famous boxer Muhammad Ali.

On February 7, he and his mom, Khalilah Camacho-Ali, were detained upon their arrival at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, by immigration officials.

According to Chris Mancini, their lawyer and family friend, who spoke with The Courier-Journal, the two were stopped because of their “Arabic-sounding names”.

Unlike his mother, who happened to have a photo of herself with her famous ex husband as proof of who she was keeping her from being detained, Ali Jr. wasn’t so lucky. With nothing at the moment to prove his heritage, the legendary boxer’s son was detained and questioned for almost two hours with questions like “Are you Muslim? “ and “Where did you get your name from?” according to the Courier-Journal.

What are your thoughts on this? Absurd or necessary?
