My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is a movie about family and family traditions. If you have seen the first movie which was entitled “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” you would know that Toula met Ian and they fell in love and got married. In this movie, you will see that they had a daughter who they named “Paris”. The whole family of Toula is back in this movie alongside with their opinions and adventures.
Paris is now 17 years old. She is attending high school at which her father, Ian is the principal. She tries to keep her distance from her Greek family and her parents as she sometimes feels a bit embarrassed by them. Her Greek family is very large, can be embarrassing and loud. In addition, her father is the principal of her school and her mother keeps volunteering at her school for various activities. She wants nothing more then to be far away from her family because to her, there is nothing more embarrassing or worse then being a part of a big Greek family.
In another story line, the parents of Toula, “Gus” and “Maria” find out that the priest that married them never signed the marriage paper which makes their marriage invalid. They would have to get remarried. Only Gus sees it as a transaction while Maria wants the proposal and wedding that she never got. When these two don’t agree with each other, the wedding is called off. Will the family get these two together in time? Will true love conquer it all? On the other hand, other topics that are spoken about in this movie include boyfriends, college and moving out.
The movie ends up showing that being a part of a big family can sometimes be embarrassing, but it can also be a great thing to be loved by so many people. This is not only a great family movie, but it also teaches teenagers, adults and parents about acceptance. It is a movie filled with lots of funny adventures.
This movies is original, funny, sad at times, and definitely makes you feel all warm and gushy on the inside. I loved watching every minute of it. This is a must see movie. I would definitely recommend watching it, whether you have a big family or not.
