Once again, Taylor vs. Kanye

The fight between Taylor Swift and Kanye West is not new. Nearly seven years ago, on September 13, 2009, the singer won the award for “Best Female Video” for the music video “You Belong With Me” at the MTV Video Music Awards. Dissatisfied with the victory of Swift, Kanye West decided to interrupt her speech and say that “Beyoncé has one of the best music videos of all time,” referring to the video clip of “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”, which was also nominated for in that category.

In 2015, the tension between the singers seemed to have disappeared. During the Grammys that year, the rapper apologized and later sent her a bouquet of flowers, that the singer even shared on Instagram.

However, the drama reappeared this year. In February, Kanye West released the album “Life of Pablo,” in which is the integration of new music that is causing more conflict between the two. In “Famous”, a line that can be heard is “Feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b**** famous” referring to the 2009 incident.

Weeks later, Taylor sent a message to the singer during a Grammy Awards speech. “I want to say to the young woman out there, there are going to be people along the way who try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame,” said the singer thrilled after winning the category of best album of the year.

The album’s release has caused many discussions and fans are condemning the attitude of the rapper, who later revealed that Taylor knew from the beginning and had given permission for the sentence. Representatives of the singer denied and said the 26 years old singer felt humiliated with the whole situation.

The doubts for whether Taylor had given permission or not to be mentioned that way in the song continued and created discussions amongst fans of both artists. Until Kim Kardashian did what she does best: used her reality show and social networking to expose Taylor Swift. It seems that the phone call between the singers was recorded and to defend her husband, the most famous of the Kardashian clan decided to showcase the conversation to the whole world.

In the video, you can hear Kanye reading the verse to the singer and her thanking him kindly, giving permission and saying that she felt it was a “praise be part of the music.” Finally, there is evidence that Taylor knew of the existence of the controversial verse, but the story does not seem to end here.

To defend herself, the pop singer used Instagram and shared the following, along with the caption “That moment when Kanye West secretly records your phone call, then Kim posts it on the Internet.”:
“Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me ‘that b****’ in his song? It doesn’t exist because it never happened. You don’t get to control someones emotional response to being called ‘that b****’ in front of the entire world. Of course I wanted to like the song. I wanted to believe Kanye when he told me that I would love the song. I wanted us to have a friendly relationship. He promised to play the song for me, but he never did. While I wanted to be supportive of Kanye on the phone call, you cannot ‘approve’ a song you haven’t heard. Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination. I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009.”

After all, what always bothered Taylor Swift was not the fact that Kanye insinuated that he could still have sex with her, but the fact he called her ‘that b****’ in front of the whole world.

According to Forbes, Taylor Swift is the highest-paid artist of the moment, and just in 2015, she raised a fortune of 154 million euros. However, money does not seem to be a friendship magnet. In recent years, she was involved in drama with celebrities like Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj, and earlier this week her former boyfriend, DJ Calvin Harris, filled Twitter with a bunch messages to the singer asking her to focus on her new relationship and to leave him alone.

What do you think about this whole situation? Are you just over it or invested in where it is going?
