Written by Lauren Oliver, here is a book you should be adding to your must-read list of 2014! If you feel like you’ve heard her name before, it’s because she’s also the author of the Delirium series.

If you enjoy reading books with a strong focus on family, friendships, and the loyalty it brings, this is a novel for you. The story takes place in the summer in a small town of 12,000 people. A game, called “Panic,” played by the graduating class of the high schools begins also bringing a long a lot of attention in the supposed stale town. The game itself involves many challenges that will induce panic such as cliff-diving. What intensifies the game even further is the secrets held by the participants that bring along their own personal struggles.

Everyone joins the games for different reasons and although the grand prize of $50,000 is appealing, many have other motives for playing. This emotional story will keep you captivated through the betrayal and courage shown by these characters.
