Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick

I was picking up some other makeup products when I saw Revlon’s line of ColorStay Ultimate Suede lipsticks. I do not currently own any lipsticks from Revlon, although I’ve heard good things, so I thought I would try it out. It was on sale and the colour “Backstage,” a deep berry looked really appealing. The case and tube was also simplistic and I liked that the cap was a tube so that you could see the exact colour. The bottom colour of the tube also matches the colour of the lipstick.
When first applying, I noticed there was a slight sweet smell but nothing too overpowering. It goes on very smooth but also very sheer. Especially since I got the darkest colour, it requires multiple layers for the actual berry of the tube to show up. I didn’t mind that too much thinking I could wear it for casual wear without the colour appearing too dramatic. A few minutes later, the colour appeared to lose the shininess as it because more “suede” like.
As the day went on, I felt my lips severely drying up. I looked in a mirror and saw that it was very patchy and looked ridiculous. It also felt so uncomfortable and I wanted to remove it ASAP and put on some lip balm. When I use the product now, I make sure to apply some gloss on top (which I hate doing) or lip balm. Regardless of putting lip balm on my bare lips, it still does not help.
While the colour is beautiful and it does stay put on your lips, the look of drying and cracking lips is not something you would want to go for.
