Second Act is a romantic comedy movie about Maya (Jennifer Lopez) whose been working in a store for over 15 years. As the years pass, by she desires to get a promotion and to grow professionally. However, her boss does not permit her since she does not have a degree. She currently has the position of assistant manager.

Maya talks and tells her friends what her birthday wish is. The opportunity to grow professionally and to finally show that without a degree, you can make it. Her friends help her by making her a resume and a Facebook page. As a result, they are impressed and she’s hired.

However, on this new job she finds her daughter Zoe (Vanessa Hudgens) and they bond as never before. They get to know each other. Only nothing is ever so perfect. Zoe is impressed with the made up Maya instead of the real Maya. Will Zoe and everyone find out the truth?

Will Zoe be able to forgive Maya? Will Maya be able to make her dreams come true? I guess you will just have to watch the movie to find out!

This movie is beautiful however at a point in the movie I did get a bit confused about what’s going or what point they are trying to make. Yet, on the other hand it’s a really beautiful movie with a beautiful message. There is even a message at the end of the movie with the following message “Every day that you are alive you have a chance at a second chance the only person standing in your way is you”. I have to admit this movie had funny scenes, but at the same time it had some very interesting topics for example lying, degrees, adoption and friendship. This movie one could say has it all.

Final Thoughts

This movie also gave you inspiration to follow your heart and or dreams. I have to say I loved this movie and I would definitely recommend watching this movie. Have you watched his movie yet? What did you think about it?
