At first I was a bit hesitant to watch this sitcom. But, then I remembered the saying “Never judge a book by its cover” so I went right ahead and gave it a try. After one episode and two, well, the whole first season, I must confess that I don’t regret watching it and can’t wait for the second season!
It stars Eva Longoria as the main character, Ana Sofia Calderon, who happens to be a star of a popular Hispanic soap opera, Las Leyes de Pasió. She also happens to not understand one word of Spanish.
As we get to follow her behind-the-scenes life, we get introduced to an array of personas that surrounds her. Her best friend, Mimi Moncada (Diana-Maria Riva), a clothing designer and seamstress, seems to be the only one with her foot on the ground. Her other best friends include Gael Garnica (Jose Moreno Brooks), who happens to be gay and only plays strong “matcho” characters, her ex-fiancee, Xavi (Jencarlos Canela), whom she seems not to stand but still has some feelings for, and the head writer, Isaac Aguero (Izzy Diaz), who can never recall the previous written episodes because he’s always drunk while writing them. We also get to meet Ana Sofia’s eccentric co-star Rodrigo Suarez (Amaury Nolasco) and her rival, Isabela Santamaria (Alex Meneses) who had lost her leading part on the show for a much younger actress who just happen to be Ana Sofia.
There is so much chaos when they come together, filled with love, drama, and lots more. A great comedy to watch and help you relax for 30 minutes.
Great cast and pleasant to watch. Very light and just perfect!!
