Do It Yourself

Watercolour Coffee Mugs w/Nail Polish

This is an easy and quick DIY that anyone can enjoy. You can do it by yourself or with a friend(s). Maybe you’re a parent who wants to keep their kids busy, while spending some quality time with them.

MATERIALS:
.White ceramic mug
. Nail polish
. Toothpicks or wooden skewer
. Warm water
. Disposable container big enough to fit the mug

Start by drizzling your color of choice, nail polish, into the warm water. If the water is to cold it will make the nail polish dry to quickly.
Then, add your second color or third, depending on what you have in mind. Then use the tooth pick or wooden skewer to swirl the paints together, while the paint is still wet. Once it dries it won’t work properly, so work quickly.

Press the mug against the nail polish to allow it to attach to the mug. If some of it gets on the inside of the mug, or you are trying to achieve a cleaner look to it, simply remove the smudges by using nail polish remover.

Give it at least two hours to completely dry up, until the paint is cured. After that use a sealant or, if you prefer, bake the mug.

BAKING INSTRUCTIONS:

To avoid your mug from cracking or exploding, you can place the mug on a COLD oven and then turn the temperature up to 400 degrees F(C). This way, it warms up slowly. When the oven reaches 400 degrees bake the mug for 15 minutes. After that, turn oven off and let everything cool back down before removing mug from it.

Note that when baked, some colors may change.
